“President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has identified ten requirements for establishing peace with russia. These are radiation and nuclear safety, food security, energy security, the release of all prisoners and deportees, the implementation of the UN Charter and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and world order, the withdrawal of russian troops from the territory of our country within the limits recognized in the Constitution of 1991, the cessation of hostilities, the return of justice, counteraction to ecocide, prevention of escalation and fixing the end of the war. The fulfilment of these requirements can begin tomorrow,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized at the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN MA from Ukraine in the part of the statements of the heads of delegations of the observer countries.

The First Vice Speaker noted that the implementation of these requirements may take some time: “But these actions require certain measures both from our side and the whole civilized world”: "We will continue to expand economic and political cooperation ensuring the growth and prosperity of the world together”.

On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Cambodia for the invitation to the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the opportunity to address the authoritative parliamentary forum: “We highly appreciate the decision to grant Ukraine observer status in this internationally influential organization of the Southeast region, which has been working fruitfully for 45 years”.

The First Vice-Speaker noted that the intensification of relations between the parliamentarians of Ukraine and ASEAN member states will allow to make a common contribution to the effective implementation of common tasks, exchange of views and creation of a stable platform for fruitful and reliable cooperation in many areas. In particular, it is a window of opportunity for Ukraine in terms of strengthening interparliamentary political dialogue, increasing joint trade, promoting IT cooperation, etc.
In addition, Olexandr Korniienko noted that by joining the International Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation of Southeast Asia on November 10, 2022, Ukraine has become a reliable partner of ASEAN in protecting common values: “Ukraine’s accession to this Agreement serves as an additional confirmation of friendship and cooperation”.

“We support the global order based on rules, peaceful coexistence, interethnic and interreligious tolerance. At a time when the world is facing uncertainty, failure of the rule of international law and new threats, Ukraine is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with ASEAN in solving these problems,” the First Vice Speaker emphasized.
In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that today is the Day of Dignity and Freedom in Ukraine and it is difficult to imagine that it is possible to build a sustainable world and peace without these values: “That is why it is very important for Ukraine to further consolidate the efforts of the international community, in particular ASEAN, to stop the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine and restore peace on the long-suffering Ukrainian land as soon as possible”.
