The Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine held an international parliamentary lesson on the topic: "Ukraine and Poland - in solidarity together" for the Independence Day of the Republic of Poland in the format of a video conference on the ZOOM platform and using "Mentimeter".

The event took place in a format that combined the lecture part in Ukrainian and Polish at the same time. Participants from both friendly countries joined the lecture. This format was able to unite the youth of Ukraine and Poland in order to emphasize the final historical reconciliation of the two peoples, awareness of the common destiny of our states as part of a united Europe, and the need to maintain friendly relations.

During the meeting-lecture, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratyuk, emphasized: "Poland was the first to recognize the independence of Ukraine on December 2, 1991. Now we are infinitely grateful to Poland for extending a helping hand, for saving millions of Ukrainians, including women and children, in such a difficult time for our country. Polish citizens sincerely responded to this challenge. And this lesson - brotherhood and sisterhood - we will remember forever."

Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Lidia Burzynska joined the international parliamentary lecture. "My Motherland was occupied and divided between three invaders for more than a century. Today, you, Ukrainians, found yourself in a similar situation. However, we Poles extended a helping hand, showing you our brotherhood: we gave you shelter, warmth and love. I am proud of the fact that my people have managed to protect Ukrainians and care for them so sincerely," stressed Ms. Lidia.

During the event, a deputy of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Co-Chairman of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council Michal Shcherba spoke to the participants in the format of a video address. "Today we look with pride at Ukraine and the Ukrainian parliament. The Ukrainian colleagues with whom we cooperate in the Parliamentary Assembly are extremely brave and courageous, as well as the Ukrainian people, defenders and volunteers. Remember: after every dark night comes the dawn, and after the storm - calm. And Poland will do everything not to leave Ukraine in trouble," Michal Scherba outlined.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych addressed the participants of the international parliamentary lesson with a welcome speech. "I want to call all of you to a new European future. Each of you is already its creator - a future that will allow us to live in peace, in harmony and in one and only European family. We now see how the Ukrainian people firmly and strongly defend freedom, and your will as well. We feel great support from Poland, the Polish people, from you. At the most difficult moment, it was you who came to the aid of Ukrainians. That's why you are already heroes. Thank you for your sincerity," said Vasyl Zvarych.

The head of the Educational Center of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted: "Since the very beginning of Russia's full-scale military aggression against Ukraine, Poland has become, albeit temporarily, a real home for millions of Ukrainians. A steel shoulder of help for our volunteers and soldiers. A big open red and white heart for hundreds of thousands of blue and yellow hearts torn by grief and pain.nWe will never forget your support and your open arms with which you wrapped us in the most difficult times. And with your help, we will definitely win! Glory to Ukraine! Slava Polska!".

During the online event, the participants made sure that the representatives of the parliament are open to communication with citizens. In particular, thanks to the active participation of the Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Olena Kondratiuk, and the Deputy of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Lidia Burzynska, who openly and comprehensively answered questions from our participants.
