On the air of the national telethon "UA together", the First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko said that during a working visit to Africa, the Ukrainian delegation was meeting with countries that voted for Ukrainian resolutions in the UN General Assembly, thanking them for their support, assuring them that the food crisis would not continue, "We will do everything to ensure that Ukraine supplies the necessary agricultural products to world markets and that prices do not rise."
At the same time, Ukrainian delegates raised these issues at meetings with "neutral countries in the UN General Assembly", "They have their own views on the situation. We convey the truth and debunk all the myths of russian propaganda." "We have been invited as observers to the parliamentary forum of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries in November. We will direct our efforts there," said Oleksandr Korniienko.
"The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is the oldest parliamentary organization that unites the parliaments of almost all the countries of the world," the First Deputy Speaker noted, adding that the IPU "has very complex and confusing procedures that have been forming for decades, because this organization has existed for more than 100 years, "You cannot, roughly speaking, exclude a delegation from it by a simple vote."
At the same time, Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized that the Ukrainian delegation, together with Great Britain, New Zealand, Canada and European countries united in a large geopolitical group, has already launched a certain process to exclude russia from the Inter-Parliamentary Union, "We have initiated this process. We are working with the documents and the IPU secretariat to make it happen already at the next session - in April."
"Participants from the russian federation were agitated last night because, according to Chile's proposal, the entire Latin American group initiated the adoption of an "emergency" - an urgent resolution that has not been planned from the very beginning," emphasized the First Deputy Speaker, adding that this is a resolution regarding the events in Ukraine, condemnation annexation, food crisis and, of course, nuclear blackmail of russia. "We managed to gather support together with our partners. Several Asian countries, such as Cambodia, and several African countries that consistently support Ukraine in the United Nations General Assembly voted for us yesterday. In fact, we managed to do the impossible," he noted.
In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko emphasized that despite russia's "historical influence in the IPU", Ukraine is reversing this situation, "We are aiming for the Assembly to support a tough resolution on russia tomorrow. We will also work on its exclusion from the organization." The First Deputy Speaker reported that this procedure is complicated, but "currently work is underway on a simple line - russia does not consistently implement all the decisions of the IPU Assembly." "The first Assembly with these decisions was held in Spring in Bali. Our delegation took part in it online. In March, when the russian troops were near Bucha, the Assembly passed a resolution demanding that russia withdraws its troops from Ukraine. Of course, the russian federation has not done this already, as we can see, in eight months," he said, stressing that there is every reason to demand the exclusion of the country from the IPU for non-implementation of the decisions of this organization.
