The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, told the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
He hopes that the Parliament will be able to consider these appointments at the next meeting.
"Nominating both the first official and the second, i.e., the Prosecutor General and the Head of the SSU is the exclusive competence of the President of Ukraine. Therefore, we will wait for these nominations to be submitted. I hope that they will be introduced as soon as possible. I would very much like that at the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. We would have the opportunity to consider these candidacies and decide about them. Since the leadership in such bodies as the Prosecutor General's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine changed during the war," the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament noted and added that the appointment of the Prosecutor General as soon as possible is also an essential issue for the appointment of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).
"We finally received the decision of the Competition Commission on the election of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. This was the main question for us at all meetings of our colleagues. It has been decided: the appointment of the head of the SAP should take place, and the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, in particular, will participate in this appointment," explained Ruslan Stefanchuk.
