Olena Kondratiuk: The world-famous Ukrainian mathematician Maryna Viazovska proved that women can achieve great success in science

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk congratulated Ukrainian mathematician Maryna Viazovska with a high state award – the Order of Merit, awarded in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 496/2022 of July 13, 2022.

"I sincerely congratulate the outstanding Ukrainian woman, our contemporary, world-renowned mathematician Maryna Vyazovska with a high state award: the Order of Merit, 1st degree!" Olena Kondratiuk wrote.

Maryna Viazovska recently won the most prestigious mathematical award – the Fields medal for solving the problem of packing balls in eight-dimensional space. She became the second woman in history to be awarded this medal.

"Mrs. Maryna not only made Ukraine famous for her mathematical achievements, but also convincingly proved that women can achieve great success in science," Olena Kondratiuk emphasized.
