Ruslan Stefanchuk: Military, financial and sanctions support for Ukraine is an investment in the security of democratic values

"Military, financial and sanctions support to Ukraine is an investment in the security of democratic values ??and in the security of other countries," stressed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during a working meeting with the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament expressed his gratitude to the United States of America for the "colossal financial support and military assistance that Ukrainians feel": "The USA is our undeniable ally."

Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that it is important for the US to see reforms: "It's no secret that the fight against corruption is a priority for the US. Next to it is judicial reform and compliance of our legislation with international law."

He added that the Parliament is ready to implement all changes. "What's more, now everyone realizes that the list of reforms from the EU and the USA is not just our homework. This is an internal necessity to change our society," emphasized the Speaker of the Parliament and added that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has an absolute understanding and desire to implement reforms: "The Parliament never stopped its progress in adopting measures, neither during the war nor before the war. which concern reforms in the state".

In particular, he cited as an example the law on de-oligarchization and the Anti-corruption strategy of the state for the next four years. "Parliament will certainly fulfill the entire mission assigned to it, regarding the adoption of legislative acts," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized.

"It is very important for Ukraine to form the architecture of the economy and social relations for the period of martial law. After the termination of martial law, after a certain period of its termination, I really want Ukraine to return to stable, predictable social relations. And here the Parliament will play its necessary role," emphasized the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

Separately, Ruslan Stefanchuk raised the issue of introducing sanctions against the aggressor country and energy independence: "What is demonstrated by some other countries, when they continue to sit on russia's energy needle, is unacceptable, because it is impossible to stop the war that they continue to sponsor."

At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude to the US for the implemented "legislative initiatives": "The first is the issue of the embargo on russian oil and gas, the second is the suspension of normal economic relations with russia and belarus."

"The uncompromising position taken by the USA should be adopted by other countries. After all, sanctions that have an exception are not sanctions, but light restrictions. We must form a system of sanctions so that there is no opportunity to find loopholes to bypass them," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

"Ukraine demonstrates leadership qualities on the battlefield. But in the long term, thanks to the reforms, Ukraine will finally defeat russia," said the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink.

"We are completely – at the level of the Government and ambassadors – focused on the success of Ukraine," she assured.
