The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of the French Republic, Gerard Larcher

They discussed, in particular, the issues of Ukraine's European integration path, military, and humanitarian support, as well as bringing to justice those guilty of atrocities on the territory of Ukraine.

"First of all, I want to thank you for your personal leadership and support of our country on the way to the European Union. As you promised, France supported Ukraine, and we received the status of a candidate for the European Union. It is especially nice that this happened during the presidency of France in the Council of the EU," Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized and said that France is one of the leading countries in supporting Ukraine: political, military and sanctions.

“Your CAESARs are fantastic. They do so much on the battlefield. We all understand that the way to peace negotiations with russia lies exclusively through its defeat on the battlefield," said the Speaker of the Parliament, emphasizing that "Ukraine did not attack anyone."

"We are only defending ourselves, but we really need concrete military support, which I spoke about when I was in France," he added.

At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude to the people of France and to President Emmanuel Macron, "who, after the conclusion of the NATO Summit, said that France will very quickly supply the equipment needed for Ukraine's defense."

For his part, the Chairman of the Senate of the French Republic acknowledged the fact that Ukraine needs military support to face the enemy on an equal footing: "All of France is aware of this need."

At the same time, Gerard Larcher noted that France and Ukraine should jointly determine in what way the French Republic "can be helpful in the difficult path that will lead Ukraine from the status of a candidate to joining the European Union."

"We would like to offer you, together with other countries and representatives of national parliaments, to be side by side on this path during the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding certain issues that will soon appear on the parliamentary agenda: in particular, regarding the Constitutional Court, the fight against corruption, national minorities are ready to provide support and assistance on all these issues," said the Chairman of the French Senate.

"Both of our peoples count on justice.  Justice means victory in this war. Justice means bringing the aggressor to justice. Justice means the joint reconstruction of Ukraine, to which I invite you. We must stand together. Because this will be our joint victory for the values ??of democracy," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concluded.
