Oleksandr Korniyenko: We must double or triple the power of our "parliamentary engine" for European integration

Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, addressed the participants of the practical seminar "Croatia's experience during the period of accession to the EU. The role of the Parliament of Croatia" with an introductory speech.

"Croatia's experience, as well as the experience of any of our other colleagues who went through the process of applying to the European Union, is very valuable for Ukraine," Oleksandr Korniyenko emphasized, adding that the tasks that Ukraine has to complete are very ambitious in terms of legislative provision of European integration.

The First Deputy Speaker noted that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine are "the main sources and collection points for the implementation of legislation."

"To put it in digital metaphors, we need to double or triple the power and efficiency of our "parliamentary engine" on European integration," Oleksandr Korniyenko said. In addition, he informed that work is ongoing on the preparation of the relevant resolution, which will be submitted under the signatures of the Presidium of the Parliament, on strengthening the institutional capacity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the matter of European integration.

In the end, the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament emphasized that Croatia's experience will be closer to Ukraine, given the "closeness of our peoples and the similarity of the history of our countries."
