On the UA Together telethon, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, congratulated the Ukrainian people on the national holiday – the Constitution Day of Ukraine.

He reminded that today we celebrate the 26th anniversary of the adoption of the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, which laid the foundation for the construction and the vector of development of our state.

"It is this document that enshrined the historical right of Ukrainians to live in an independent, sovereign state and to develop a just civil society. A society in which a person is the highest social value, all people are free and equal in their dignity and rights, and rights and freedoms are inalienable and inviolable," said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.

He expressed confidence in the stability and victory of the Ukrainian people in this challenging war.

"We will survive. This time we have a fundamentally different situation – united people, ready to fight, comprehensive international support, and the current Constitution as the foundation of Ukrainian statehood. The Constitution, which unites all Ukrainians in the desire to decide their destiny and determine their way of life, build their state and be an equal part of the open world, develop civil society and live by civilized rules," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

According to him, today's war is "a war for the right to live according to the Constitution, and not as the king or emperor will say."

"This will be a historic victory that will pave the way for fully implementing the constitutional provisions on the irreversibility of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic course. Course towards civilization, not barbarism; development, not stagnation; the future, not the past," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed.

He stressed that Ukraine had taken a significant step in this direction by obtaining the status of a candidate for EU membership. Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that many challenges must be overcome by Ukraine's full accession to the EU, but "the basis of this era will be the Constitution of Ukraine as a social contract of free people who share the same values ??and principles."

"This has been, is, and always will be a special role of the Constitution, which no other law or document can fulfill. The role of uniting the Ukrainian people in the Ukrainian State on Ukrainian soil," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed.
