The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, Wolfgang Sobotka.
Speakers of both parliaments discussed support for Ukraine on its path to EU candidate status, Austria's participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine, and the punishment of the aggressor for waging war against Ukraine.
"I expect that Austria is aware of Ukraine's strategic role as a guarantor of European security and the economic potential of our country and will support Ukraine's membership in the EU," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the importance of maintaining a regular inter-parliamentary dialogue between the countries and the decision of the Austrian Parliament to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Austria for the diverse assistance and invited the President of the National Council to pay a visit to Ukraine.
