Ruslan Stefanchuk appeals to the Belgian Parliament to support Ukraine's European integration aspirations
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Speaker of the Senate of the Federal Parliament of Belgium, Stephanie D’Hose, and asked for Ukraine’s support on its path to EU membership.

"Ukrainians are taking an exam to comply with European values ??and principles at the cost of their lives. And this is crucial for us. That Europe sees and supports this," the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.

The politician said that the war in Ukraine is a war against European values, against the right to choose as a fundamental European value.

"On February 24, russia, in violation of all possible bans, challenged Europe. I want Europe to respond to russia in 4 months, on June 24," the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked for the support that Ukraine receives at the level of sanctions against russia, where Belgium is the leader among the countries that have retained russian capital – 200 billion euros.

"We want to ask you to continue to support this sanctions pressure, to help provide weapons for Ukraine. putin has gone into a long conflict because it is good for him... It causes oblivion. That is why we need to act quickly both in the military and the economic situation," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed and invited Belgium to take part in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

The participants discussed the issue of food security, which has become urgent worldwide today. The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that Ukraine and the EU have a shared responsibility to resolve it.

"We have already gone from putin's" I will take Kyiv in two days "to the 110th day of a full-scale war, where Ukrainians demonstrate the pinnacle of human stability," stressed the Chairman, noting that Ukraine immediately needs the latest weapons to end the war of attrition.

In conclusion, he appealed to the Belgian Parliament to recognize essential things for Ukraine today: the genocide of the Ukrainian people, the Holodomor, which took place 90 years ago, and russia's actions in Ukraine during the russian-Ukrainian war.

"We carry out proceedings in the International Criminal Court, and we thank Belgium for its support. It is important for us to get a legal assessment of what putin is doing and to force him to bear both legal responsibility and property so that he can make reparations to Ukraine," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

The Speaker of the Senate of the Belgian Federal Parliament, Stephanie D'Hose, emphasized that European aid could no longer be in words - it was essential to take action. In particular, Belgium must do everything possible to help win this war.

"We are working on tough sanctions – this is the first thing we need to do. The second thing is that we need to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war, " said Stephanie D’Hose.

According to her, due to the war, Ukrainians and Europeans have become closer than ever. She believes that Ukraine and Europe have a long way to go for the change. Stephanie D’Hose believes that Ukraine has a place in the European Union, and Ukrainians are aware of this requirement.

"If we can't help each other now, then when? The war has terrible consequences, but there is one positive one: Ukrainians, Belgians, and the whole of Europe have become closer than ever. We must support this rapprochement not only for one day but also in the future," she concluded.
