The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, gave an interview to the Ukrinform news agency, in which he called on the Dutch authorities to support Ukraine in its European integration aspirations, listening to the wishes of its people.
Ruslan Stefanchuk reminded that the Dutch support for Ukraine's accession to the EU has grown to 62%.
"Walk down the streets of the Netherlands – Ukrainian flags hang everywhere. There has never been such support for Ukraine. Not to mention the results of the Eurovision voting. When the jury gives us zero and the people give us 12,” said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
According to him, it is the relations between the people and the people that radically change the state of affairs, and the government must meet the demands of its people.
"As government officials, we must meet the expectations of the people. Because if we do not answer, then we are not representatives of our people. That is why I would very much like them to listen to what the people are saying, " the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed hope.
He noted that the Dutch authorities should ask their people whether Ukraine is worthy to be in the European Union.
"First of all, ask your companies if they want to get a 45 million market in Ukraine. Ask your farmers if they want to produce ecologically clean products together with Ukrainians and cooperate with Ukrainians on the open land market in Ukraine. We must act as our peoples want. The Netherlands will only benefit from granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
