The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, met with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz.

The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed hope for an honest and open conversation and noted that he was ready to present the current situation in Ukraine and answer all possible questions.

According to him, establishing a working dialogue between Ukraine and Germany, the rapprochement is a key task of the visit to Germany. Yesterday's meetings with colleagues from the Bundestag showed a high level of support for Ukraine.

"I have the impression that Ukraine unites even political opponents in Germany. We also appreciate personal stories of help," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that the primary purpose of his visit was to receive full support from Germany in granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. In this regard, the position of the Federal Chancellor of Germany is critical.

"I would like to hear it from you directly and clearly. As a result of our communication, I would like to hear from you words of hope for all Ukrainians: “I support granting Ukraine EU candidate status to signal to all the people of Ukraine that their struggle is not in vain and that they can begin their journey criteria for full membership over time," noted Ruslan Stefanchuk.

In addition, he focused on determining the victory of Ukraine: “When we say "win," we mean the victory of European values ??over barbarism and unpredictability. Ukraine's victory guarantees a peaceful and predictable future for European countries. Any other scenario will only encourage Putin to seize new countries. This needs to stop now.  This is the historical mission of modern politicians," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

For the complete and quick victory of Ukraine, said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, our military needs modern air defense systems now.

"The announced decision to supply us with IRIS-T is very timely. We hope that between the decision and the supply of these systems to Ukraine will pass the time needed for the transporting, without any bureaucratic delays," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
