Deputy Chairwoman of Ukrainian Parliament, Olena Kondratiuk, on the working meeting with Emma Aparici, Director of the Foreign Policy Department of the Spanish Government: On behalf of the Verkhovna Rada, I thanked Spain for its significant contribution to strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine, transferring weapons, ammunition, and protective equipment to the Armed Forces. We are sincerely grateful for the admission to the treatment and rehabilitation of dozens of wounded Ukrainian service members.
We appreciate the provision of significant financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine and Ukrainians. Spain has sheltered more than 137,000 of our citizens, the fourth largest figure among the EU countries.
"The Spanish government and people are on your side. Spain was one of the first to condemn russian aggression. Our Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez constantly emphasizes that only unity is the key to common victory. We are making every effort and are constantly looking for new opportunities to support Ukraine," assured Emma Aparici.
In particular, Spain has made one of the most considerable contributions of 120 million euros for Ukraine to the European Peace Facility. Its total budget is 1.5 billion euros, i.e., Spain's contribution is 8%. The Spanish government has also separately allocated another 31 million euros to help Ukraine. This is the most significant amount in history that was sent by Spain in favor of one country.
At the same time, I told my colleague that the russian occupiers had changed their tactics. The war is entering a protracted phase, and therefore Ukraine needs even more support in all areas. Every month our state budget suffers losses of 5 billion dollars. However, the state continues to fund all social benefits to support people in these difficult times. Including payments made to Ukrainian citizens under temporary EU protection.
