Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk: Result of the working visit to Estonia! As it has been agreed with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, Juri Ratas, he sent a letter to his colleagues in the national parliaments of the European Union, urging them to support Ukraine's EU candidate country status in June.
"I hope that the positive conclusion of the Commission will lay a solid foundation for political support by the EU countries for recognizing Ukraine as a candidate country for EU membership, in accordance with Article 49 of the Treaty on European Union," Ratas said.
The Speaker of the Estonian Parliament emphasizes that the EU's support is crucial for Ukraine, motivating it to continue the necessary reforms and instilling hope in the Ukrainian people to hold on.
In the letter, he noted that more than 90 percent of Ukrainians support joining the EU. Ratas stated that Ukraine has expressed its readiness to fulfill all the conditions for joining the EU and granting candidate status is the first important step in achieving this goal.
Ratas noted that EU citizens should not be ignored in support of Ukraine and their opinion should be taken into account. He noted that societies across Europe have expressed strong and unconditional support for Ukraine and its ambitions for the European Union.
