Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk held a meeting with German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhuzen and congratulated the Ambassador on her return to Kyiv and the resumption of the full-fledged work of the German diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the issue of obtaining Ukraine's candidate status for accession to the European Union.

"I spoke with the Ambassador about the unconditional importance of making such a decision in June 2022. This is what Ukraine and the Ukrainian people expect. In this context, the intensification of inter-parliamentary contacts between the Verkhovna Rada and the Bundestag is extremely important," Olena Kondratiuk stressed.

The parties also discussed the activities of the International Tribunal in the context of bringing Russian war criminals to justice. The Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament noted the significant assistance of Germany in this process and the involvement of relevant experts.

In addition, the meeting raised the topic of rebuilding Ukraine and Germany's help to rebuild the liberated Ukrainian cities.

Olena Kondratiuk also took the opportunity to thank the German Ambassador for taking care of our internally displaced persons and said that more than 400,000 of our citizens who had received temporary protection from the EU had found refuge in Germany.
