Ruslan Stefanchuk: russia's policy, consistency and system of its implementation are aimed at mass extermination of the population of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution “On the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine“ On the Genocide of Ukraine by the russian federation” (Reg. №7276).

"At this difficult time, when the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the armed aggression of the russian federation grinds on, there are more and more brutal crimes that must receive a proper legal assessment. russia's policy, consistency and system of its implementation are aimed at mass extermination of the population of Ukraine, violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the liquidation of national statehood of Ukraine," said Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk.

According to him, the goal of the russian leadership is to destroy Ukrainian patriots, the Ukrainian language, Ukrainian culture, everything that shapes the identity of the Ukrainian people.

"Today it is safe to say that the actions committed by the russian armed forces are not just a crime of aggression, but aimed at systematic and consistent destruction of the Ukrainian people, our identity and deprivation of our right to self-determination and independent development," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

As he noted, this requires immediate recognition of the actions committed by the russian armed forces against Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

"This is the first step towards exposing russia's true intentions, its actions to destroy the Ukrainian people during russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and bringing this information to the attention of the international community in order to initiate bringing all perpetrators to justice," Ruslan Stefanchuk added.
