There can be no compromise on issues of Ukrainian sovereignty and security. This was stated by Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during the joint briefing with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco.
He said that during the meeting with Duarte Pacheco they discussed several issues related to expanding the dialogue between Ukraine and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine.
"The simple formula we came up with: diplomacy - yes, aggression - no," said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.
Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that he assessed Duarte Pacheco's visit to Ukraine as unconditional support of our country's aspirations to build a democratic independent state based on the rule of law.
In turn, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco stressed that "borders must be respected, and this is one of the key aspects of the Inter-Parliamentary Union."
Also, according to him, dialogue should be the main tool for resolving conflict issues. Duarte Pacheco stressed that every country strives to be free in choosing its future without any outside interference.
