More than 80 years have passed since the Holocaust tragedy, but humanity still lives with the "fear gene". This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during the forum on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
"This is a tragedy of universal significance, a tragedy that for many generations is synonymous with suffering and human pain, a symbol of contempt for man, his life. The only guarantee of saving from the recurrence and prevention of such horrors is memory," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
According to him, Ukrainians feel in solidarity with millions of people of good will around the world, united in their determination to protect humanity from the devastating effects of hatred, racism and xenophobia.
According to him, the measures taken in Ukraine to perpetuate the irreparable losses of the Holocaust testify to our state's commitment to establishing interethnic peace, interfaith dialogue and the values   of mutual respect and tolerance in its own home.
