“I am sincerely proud that you and I are not just witnessing change. We are the ‘change makers’ who have made people aware that gender equality is the most just and tangible change in the life of the country. This is also the result of the work of our Congress as a platform for all-Ukrainian discussion. This is our joint achievement with you,” Olena Kondratiuk noted.
According to her, such changes in the public consciousness are the result of the active position of each and everyone in their field of activity, from small communities, small businesses to civil society institutions, large and responsible business, adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of laws on removing barriers for women in the military, combating sexism, and introducing quotas for same-sex participation in voter lists in local and parliamentary elections.
“All of this is an example of successful and effective women's leadership, which changes not just the rules of the game, but introduces into life and public consciousness, as a familiar phenomenon, a new ethic and culture of interaction between women and men,” said Olena Kondratiuk.
The Fifth Ukrainian Women’s Congress is dedicated to the main achievements in the field of equality policy during the independence of Ukraine and women’s leadership as a value. The Congress will traditionally discuss women's participation in politics, the position of women in security and peacebuilding, the role of women in the economy and innovation, their leadership in communities and local politics, as well as special events and new formats.
