The Verkhovna Rada is grateful for the proposals made by the Venice Commission to improve the national legislation of Ukraine and appreciates the close cooperation. This was stated by Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament Dmytro Razumkov during the meeting with Chairpersons of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.
"We are grateful for the prompt conclusions provided by the Venice Commission at the request of the Ukrainian Parliament and the President," he said.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada noted that constant communication with the Venice Commission has been established over the last year. "Recently, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has repeatedly addressed the Commission. We appreciate your work and are very attentive to the proposals that come from you," said Dmytro Razumkov.
The parties discussed issues related to judicial reform, improvement of anti-corruption legislation, as well as legislative regulation of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
Dmytro Razumkov said that the Parliament could soon consider the draft Laws on the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges. "These bills are being finalized in Committees. It is extremely important to consider them synchronously," he added.
In addition, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that the draft Law on regulating the activities of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is being prepared for consideration in the second reading.
He also said that in the near future the Verkhovna Rada may consider the draft Law On Constitutional procedures, which has already received the conclusion of the Venice Commission.
