Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov opened the exhibition of paintings by Yuriy Khimych dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People. The event took place in the press center of the Ukrainian Parliament.
“This exhibition is not to remind that Crimea is Ukraine. I am sure that every citizen of Ukraine and all civilized countries of the world well remember and know that Crimea is Ukraine, and this rhetoric will not change," Dmytro Razumkov said.
According to the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, today we must remember well the terrible events of May 1944 and how many lives of Crimean Tatars were lost. At the same time, today there are checkpoints on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea too.
"In order to return the Ukrainian Crimea, it is worth working hard in this direction," said Dmytro Razumkov. He reminded that last week together with the Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas there was a visit to EECP "Chonhar" and "Kalanchak" in Kherson region. "I would like the checkpoints, which today stand on the administrative border with Crimea, to become just museums," he said.
