Inter-Parliamentary relations between Ukraine and Luxembourg can develop even more intensively. This was stated by Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov during the meeting with representatives of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. “Our states constructively cooperate on international platforms, in particular, within the framework of the PACE. Ukraine appreciates the support that Luxembourg provided at the beginning of the annexation of Crimea," he said.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada expressed hope for further support by the members of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for Ukraine's efforts to restore its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, and noted our country's attempts to make progress in a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict.
He thanked Luxembourg for its sustainable sanctions policy against Russia. "We well remember that Luxembourg was the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and it was your representatives who had a clear position and provided assistance to our country," Dmytro Razumkov added.
According to the Speaker of the Parliament, in 2014 Ukraine chose its path to the EU and NATO, and this decision is enshrined in the Constitution. "We have made our choice and will not deviate from it. However, part of our territory is occupied, and we continue to lose our troops. We have lost two servicemen in the last 4 days," Dmytro Razumkov said.
The parties also discussed Inter-Parliamentary cooperation. According to the Speaker of the Parliament, important elements of cooperation are the exchange of visits and the format of personal meetings at various levels. "Cooperation and coordination of our parliamentary delegations on international platforms is also important," Dmytro Razumkov said, inviting the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg delegation to visit Ukraine.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada also added that Ukraine supports the presidency of Luxembourg in the UN Human Rights Council in 2022-2024.
