The Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament Dmytro Razumkov and the President of the European Parliament David-Maria Sassoli signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament. The purpose of the document is to regulate a common framework for parliamentary support, including the Jean Monnet Dialogues and capacity building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The memorandum was signed during Dmytro Razumkov's official visit to Brussels.

"This document will help us to further develop and implement the latest European democratic standards that the Verkhovna Rada seeks. Cooperation with the European Parliament is important for us and still helps us to carry out reforms," said the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament.

The parties discussed issues of reforming the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to Dmytro Razumkov, the leadership of the Ukrainian Parliament and the leaders of the parliamentary factions are ready to implement the best European practices of parliamentarism to increase its effectiveness. "I highly appreciate the contribution of the leadership of the European Parliament and political coordinators to the reform of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.

The meeting also raised issues related to further priorities of inter-parliamentary cooperation, European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the security situation in Donbas and Crimea. "We are glad that the European Parliament has once again expressed its unconditional support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Dmytro Razumkov said.

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that Ukraine is doing everything possible to achieve progress in the political and diplomatic settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, but since January 2021, we are forced to state numerous cases of ceasefire violations.

In addition, according to the Speaker of Parliament, the deoccupation of Crimea is the priority for Ukraine. He called on David Sassoli to assist the European Parliament in adopting the Resolution on Crimea during the next plenary session of the European Parliament. Dmytro Razumkov also offered him to join the Crimean Platform.

The Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada expressed gratitude for the sanctions policy and support of Ukraine. "We highly appreciate the continuation of all existing packages of sanctions and the constant unity of the position in deciding on the next extension of economic sanctions," he said.
