Depriving law enforcement agencies of the power to investigate economic crimes will help reduce the corruption component in their work. This was stated by Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov.
“This is the right thing to do – when we take away the economic functions of all law enforcement agencies and bring them together in one organization,” said the Chairperson of the Parliament.
According to him, the Verkhovna Rada may already consider the draft law in the current plenary week, which provides for the transfer of powers to investigate economic crimes from law enforcement agencies to the Bureau of Economic Security.
“When you take away economic issues from the security forces, you also remove a large amount of corruption,” Dmytro Razumkov emphasized. He also added that it is impossible to generalize, but there are “quite a few people who have not yet realized that it is impossible to earn on the state.”
In addition, the Speaker of the Parliament noted that the draft law, which envisages reforming the Security Service of Ukraine, is expected to be considered on Thursday.
