During the Conciliation Council of the parliamentary factions and groups, Dmytro Razumkov, Speaker of the Parliament, drew attention to cases of ‘button-pressing’ in the Verkhovna Rada of the 11th convocation. “Button-pressing has become an exceptional phenomenon. This is almost non-existent, but ‘almost’ – neither we nor Ukrainian society are satisfied. We must make sure that this not-so-pleasant stage goes down in the history of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” he said.
Dmytro Razumkov added that as of today, all free places in the session hall are disconnected from the system. In addition, a mechanism is being developed that will allow voting exclusively from one's workplace. Amendments to the Rules of Procedure on disciplinary punishment of people's deputies for non-personal voting are also being worked out. “When it becomes possible to integrate the updated ‘Rada’ system, this will make ‘button-pressing’ impossible. Additional cameras will also be installed in the session hall,” noted the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.
In addition, the members of the Conciliation Council observed a minute of silence for those killed in the fire in the Kharkiv region, which occurred last week.
“We have passed many correct laws, but, unfortunately, we are forced to remember the results of their implementation during such tragic events. There are bills related to fire safety and measures to help regulate the activities of relevant bodies, which should be considered this week,” said Dmytro Razumkov and offered to carefully study these bills and promptly prepare them for consideration.
