Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov said that the mechanisms for filling the special fund, which will finance the fight against coronavirus, vaccination of the population and financial support of physicians, are already being worked out. And the key criteria for purchasing the COVID-19 vaccine should be its quality and effectiveness.
According to him, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budget are already working out mechanisms for filling the special fund.
“Immediately after the New Year, I think we will look for additional opportunities to fill this fund,” - noted Dmytro Razumkov.
He stressed that the approved State Budget for 2021 includes those expenditures, in particular for medicine, which are possible in the country under the current conditions. Dmytro Razumkov added that funding is insufficient.
“As the Verkhovna Rada, we proceed only from the resources that are offered to us. We can't just take and add expenses. We operate with those resources, and, let's be honest, not bad enough. We changed, as much as possible, the draft State Budget, which went to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” said the Chairperson of the Parliament.
He also stressed that the quality of the COVID-19 vaccine should be a key aspect for purchasing for the state. “An important issue is the quality of the vaccine. Because the question is not to bring, but whether it will really work,” noted the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.
Dmitry Razumkov is convinced that pharmaceutical companies will increase production potential, and this will allow the country to provide the vaccine faster. According to him, when choosing the COVID-19 vaccine, Ukraine should follow the path of developed countries, whose priority is to protect the interests and health of citizens.
