Address of Acting Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk on the Occasion of the Remembrance Day of Holodomors Victims

We, Ukrainians, light a candle all over the world today, remember in prayer the souls of the innocently killed, lost and unborn.

We must understand the price of life - we must never forget the millions of innocent souls tortured by the famine of the totalitarian regime.

We thank all the indifferent countries that joined us in condemning the totalitarian regime and recognized the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians.

Only in this way we can build a new and fair world – condemning crimes, remembering victories, and moving forward in the name of those who dreamed of a free world.

Today, on the Remembrance Day of Holodomors Victims, my colleagues from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and I will go to the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide at 3 pm to bow our heads and pay tribute to the victims of the greatest tragedy in the history of our people.

I ask all concerned Ukrainians and people from all over the world to join the commemorations in their cities and communities today. Come to the memorials and monuments to the victims of the Holodomor, go to the memorial service, light a candle in your house. It is our duty to the innocent killed and unborn to remember and never forget.
