Under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, a meeting of the Working Group on the preparation of a draft law on the parliamentary opposition was held. MPs, specialists and experts joined the discussions.
The participants of the meeting expressed their vision on the rights and status of the opposition, analyzed the European experience and found a consensus solution on the vast majority of positions.
“From next Monday, we plan to proceed with the preparation of the initial draft of the bill on the parliamentary opposition. To achieve this goal, the parliament subgroup of all comers has been created, which will be directly involved in the preparation of the text of the bill,” noted Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The First Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed hope that in December 2020, within the working group, it will be possible to move to article-by-article discussion of the bill on parliamentary opposition.
