“I am convinced that the cooperation of the parliaments of our countries will
promote the development of a strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland
and will serve to strengthen security and stability in Europe,” said the
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada.
Dmytro Razumkov stressed that the security situation in the region requires
further active cooperation between the parliamentary delegations of Ukraine and
Poland within the framework of international organizations.
He thanked Poland for its long-term continued support of Ukraine in the
struggle for territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for defending
Ukraine`s interests in the international arena. The Chairman of the Verkhovna
Rada also stressed that European and Euro-Atlantic integration remain Ukraine's
unchanged foreign policy priorities. “We have very good inter-parliamentary
relations with Poland, and Ukraine is ready to deepen them, because
international support helps our country to contain the pressure of the aggressor
country,” Dmytro Razumkov said.
In addition, the Speaker stressed that an important aspect of cooperation
between Ukraine and Poland is the issue of energy security. “We must continue
to take a firm stand on the construction of Nord Stream 2. It is a real threat
to economic and political stability in Europe,” said Dmitry Razumkov.
The situation in Belarus was also discussed during the meeting. “Ukraine`s
position has been repeatedly voiced: we are interested in the democratic
development of Belarus, that the government of Belarus be recognized by the
people of Belarus and by other countries. Ukraine never interferes in the
electoral process of other states, but it is important for us that a legitimate
government is elected. This is not only a question of preserving the state, but
also of stability in the region,” Dmytro Razumkov stressed.
