"Everything we do in parliament - we do for the sake of children, children of Ukraine," he said and urged MPs to remember it during their work.
Dmytro Razumkov spoke from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada and congratulated the deputies on a year of joint work.
"It was a difficult year for all of us. And I am sure that there will be many challenges in the future. However, we went through it together, doing a lot of the right things. Although, there were mistakes as well," he noted.
The Speaker outlined the main challenges facing parliament during the new political season, including a pandemic, next year's budget and local elections.
"During the first year of our work, we proved that the Parliament of Ukraine can and does work," said Dmytro Razumkov, and added that over 150 laws were adopted by the coalition majority throughout the year. And he is proud of it.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that "there will be many tasks facing us in accordance with the Work Plan approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the last session."
He suggested that the full implementation of the Plan would be hindered by the Coronavirus pandemic, but Dmytro Razumkov expressed confidence: "We will do everything possible to consider all bills and, if possible, adopt them."
Dmytro Razumkov wished “that at the fourth session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation we could all unite around common values and prove that the Parliament will continue to work for the benefit of Ukraine. I hope that together we will be able to prove to ourselves and the Ukrainian people that the state has strong, powerful, reliable institutions and the main of which, according to the Constitution, is the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine." He added: "I am sure that through our daily work, fruitful work in committees and in the session hall, we will be able to prove not only to Ukraine that the Ukrainian institution of parliamentarism is capable, able to respond quickly to challenges and works exclusively in the interests of the Ukrainian people and Ukraine. And we can do it only through our joint work."
