The 29th of July: Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts

While in the Donetsk oblast, the Chairman visited the Chasiv Yar military unit #A0135-II and the Maiorsk entry-exit checkpoint. He talked to the command group of JFO, leaders of the regional department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and local government officials from the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

In Chasiv Yar, JFO Commander briefed the Speaker on the security situation in the JFO area, while the local administrators delivered reports on the socio-economic situation in their regions.

At the entry-exit checkpoint, Dmytro Razumkov got acquainted with how the checkpoint works and inspected the regional government-aid point of the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk oblast.

He also looked over houses damaged by shelling near the checkpoint and offered hope to allocate funds for repairs in the 2021 budget.

Dmytro Razumkov also stressed that the autumn elections in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts could only be conducted under certain conditions: the whole of democracy plus free declaration of will – and, of course, security.  If people's lives and health could be endangered, the elections are not worth holding.

The Chairman then paid visit to the 59th military mobile hospital and a special task unit of the local office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, where he talked to servicemen patients who were under treatment at that time and thanked the servicemen and the hospital staff for their selfless service and work.

He also presented them with awards of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and valuable presents of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Afterwards, the Speaker of Parliament honoured the memory of military medics who had died saving the lives of Ukrainian defenders while on duty in the war zone.

He then inspected the village of Smolianinove that suffered badly from the forest fires in the Luhansk oblast and presented VRU awards to those rescuers who had participated in entaming the disaster. Dmytro Razumkov also reported that the public budget funds allocated for restoration of the fire-damaged houses had already been transferred to the district budget.

While in the Luhansk oblast, the Chairman visited the Kudriashivka secondary school. He got acquainted with its material and technical, educational base, then paid a visit to the school museum and talked to teachers.

The Speaker of Parliament also visited the Luhansk regional physical culture and sports centre “Olimp”, where he inspected its training base and talked with local Olympic medalists.

"We have to create adequate conditions here to show people from the temporarily occupied territories that it is better to live in Ukraine. Equally, we must build growth areas here, and this is especially important for the sports industry in the frontline areas,” the politician stressed.
