Congratulations of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine
Dear Ukrainians!
The adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty is one of the most significant events in the history of modern Ukraine. After the adoption of this very ambitious and bold document, created and approved by utterly courageous people, Ukraine's independence has only become a matter of time.
The Declaration laid down the principles on which we have built our country. Subsequently, these principles were enshrined in the Constitution and laws of Ukraine. Today’s Ukraine is changing rather rapidly, but there are eternal verities which are immutable and lie beyond politics’ power. They should be followed by every citizen, we must protect them both through diplomacy and by force of arms.
Ukraine did vindicate its sovereignty in 1990 and it would do so now, 30 years later. And the role of the Verkhovna Rada in this fight can hardly be overestimated. We must remember that in the most fateful, crucial and critical moments for Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada did demonstrate the unshakable political will and did make decisions regardless of political flags and slogans. The Ukrainian Parliament has always stood and will at all times be standing with the Ukrainian People and the Ukrainian State.
I am sending my sincere congratulations to one and all on this important holiday and wish you success and prosperity in an independent and sovereign Ukraine!
