“The Parliament will do its utmost for the local elections to take place in time,” -- Dmytro Razumkov

 

  • Victims of floods

D.Razumkov, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressed his sincere condolences to the victims of the explosion in Kyiv and the floods in western Ukraine during the sitting of the Conciliation Commission of parliamentary factions and groups on Tuesday.

He also thanked those MPs who had worked in the devastated areas and had been immediately engaged in rendering help to the people.

 

  • Local elections

In addition, Dmytro Razumkov asked committee chairmen to prepare respective draft decisions regarding the upcoming local elections in good time. "Not later than 90 days, there will be announced the elections in question. As the last plenary day of the third session will take place in a week, we all have to do our best to make the election happen in due time, in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine,” he stressed. The Speaker also pointed out that the in-between time would be used by MPs for the intense work on the ground.

 

  • Agenda of the week

The Chairman underlined that the business of the current week is replete with pressing issues to review, including the so-called gambling bill, as well as a number of other topical questions related to the medical reform, regulations of the financial sector as well as different social spheres such as education, sports and arts patronage.

Into the bargain, D. Razumkov reminded that a solemn sitting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty is scheduled for July 16.
