Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations remain unchanged,” -- Dmytro Razumkov

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Chairman Dmytro Razumkov met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

During the meeting, the speaker thanked the Alliance for its continued support of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and emphasized its willingness to deepen the NATO-Ukraine relations.

"Cooperation with the Alliance is part of our political agenda and our internal vision of developing the relationship between NATO and Ukraine. The Verkhovna Rada is ready for this, and I am sure that many of our colleagues in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in other institutions also understand the importance and the principled stand of such relations.  Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations remain unchanged,” Dmytro Razumkov stated.

The speaker also stressed that today Ukraine needs reforms more than ever before.  “All the vertical power structures, as one dedicated team, are extremely result-oriented.  And Ukraine's membership in NATO should be an important part of this overall result,” he then stressed.

Dmytro Razumkov also expressed his hope for further technical, educational and other kinds of assistance that the Alliance has been providing to Ukraine to date.  "It is not only about security but also about significant humanitarian aid," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada clarified.

At the end of the meeting, the speaker assured the Secretary-General that one of Ukraine's top priorities there is transition to NATO standards and membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.

In his turn, Jens Stoltenberg underscored he remains to be quite optimistic about Ukraine's future.
