“Ukraine does highly appreciate Latvia’s support and principled stand at the PACE,” -- Dmytro Razumkov
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics.
The speaker thanked the minister for his full support of Ukraine with regard, in particular, to its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and stressed that the long-lasting friendly relations between the countries would be developed in future.
Dmytro Razumkov complimented the position of Latvia and its parliamentary delegation upon the PACE decision to return the Russian delegation to the Assembly.
He also thanked for the organization of a coordination meeting in Riga with parliamentarians from the Baltic States, Georgia, Poland, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Sweden and Denmark in the follow-up of the shameful Assembly's decision.
"Ukraine is grateful to you as a representative of Latvia for your consistent position against the Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea, as well as on the PACE matters," Dmytro Razumkov stated.
The Chairman of the Parliament thanked the Latvian side for providing considerable assistance in the rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers wounded in eastern Ukraine. He also lauded Latvia's assistance in organizing recreation for children from families of servicemen that died or were injured in the course of the JFO/ATO operation.
"We are trying to end the war and make every effort to bring our people back," the speaker averred.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics noted the high level of cooperation between Ukraine’s verticals of executive power and the high pace of changes in the country’s legislation.
He wished the Ukrainian side success in implementing the reforms in progress and invited a Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to pay a visit to Latvia.
