“The main objective the parliament puts today on its further development agenda is to make Ukraine happy,” -- Dmytro Razumkov, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov participated in the 16th Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting, themed this year as  "Happiness Now: New Approaches for a World in Crisis".

Speaking at the meeting, Dmytro Razumkov stressed that the newly formed parliament came to power not at all as mere ‘bean counters’ or for the sake of lucre - new faces were and are in great demand by the public.

“It was necessary to bring new people into politics… The goal we have set for ourselves is to make institutional changes in the country. The old system proved to be outdated and no longer working. Today we are ready to change, ready to alter ourselves and ready to hear. It is very important!” the head of parliament emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that nowadays there are two challenges before the authorities and society: the war at the front and the war against corruption. "Unfortunately, these are the key problems that have been struggled against for years or pretending to be struggled by Ukrainian authorities," Dmytro Razumkov stated. The current membership of the parliament is already demonstrating high efficiency of its work owing to the fact that it manages to build a consolidated common position of all political forces represented, Dmytro Razumkov explained. Naturally enough, this gives a quick positive result. The speaker illustrated his above view with the episode of removal of parliamentary immunity in just two workdays.

He thanked the parliamentarians for their support and fruitful work.

“The backbone task of the day for the newly elected parliament is making Ukraine happy. So that we - together with our children - could openheartedly say: we live in a happy country!” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada underlined.
