“Inter-parliamentary relationship is a firm foundation for the development of connections between Ukraine and Slovenia,” – Andriy Parubiy
The Ukrainian Parliament’s Chairman A.Parubiy met the President of the National Council of the Slovenian Parliament Alojz Kovsca, whose sojourn in Ukraine is first-ever.
The current visit, timed to the 85th anniversary of Ukraine’s greatest tragedy, was called to be very important for the mutual relationship. "It is utterly significant for us that the world is aware of the scope and depth of the tragedy Ukraine once witnessed," stressed the Chairperson of the Parliament of Ukraine.

thanked the President for the support of Ukraine in the difficult times the
country goes through.
The politician also thanked for the support of Ukraine rendered by Slovenia in international organizations, the condemnation of Russia's occupation, and the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children. The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada expressed the need for closer inter-parliamentary collaboration and the establishment of cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups of both countries.
A.Parubiy informed the President of the National Council of the Slovenian Parliament about the reforms that are taking place in Ukraine and expressed the need for a more hard-line response to the aggression, because otherwise "the notorious ‘green men’ might appear in the Baltic states and other countries".
The Chairman emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of security, energy, information security, infrastructure projects, culture and tourism.
A.Parubiy underlined that there has been slated a big speakers’ forum for the next year with the participation of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Georgia and Moldova which would be focused on cooperation in the field of security, energy and transit projects collaboration. He then invited the Slovenian delegation to take part in the said forum.
In turn, A. Kovsca thanked for the opportunity to be in Kyiv in such a crucial time and stressed that his country “had waited for a thousand years to gain its own state and sovereignty, so Slovenia is well aware what it means to attain statehood".
The President of the National Council emphasized the clear and unwavering position of Slovenia about national frontiers - "international lines should not be changed". Slovenia shall not uphold any aggression, any hostile acts against other countries.
A.Kovsca also argued in favour of more active cooperation at the level of entrepreneurs and supported the idea of having an open and wide dialogue on important problems for countries that share common borders. The Council President invited the Chairpeson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy to visit the Republic of Slovenia officially as well.
