"On Saturday, there was signed an important, historic agreement between the State of Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which does guarantee the creation of the Unified (One) Local Orthodox Ukrainian Church and further giving it the Tomos of Autocephaly," declared the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy during the Conciliation Board meeting on Monday, November 5.
According to him, "this is the answer to all those of little faith and those who are, for the Kremlin’s blood money, chirring out of the screens of pro-Russian TV channels that the unified local church would not be created".
The Parliament’s chairman expects that the uniting primates’ council be held by the end of November.
The Verkhovna Rada Speaker A.Parubiy expressed his gratitude to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I "for his fatherly care over the people of Ukraine and the future of our local church".
