The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A.Parubiy stressed that the issue of information security is extremely important for Ukraine. He stated this within the context of the petition for would-be unlicensing of the broadcasters NEWSONE and 112.
A.Parubiy noted that "the petition concerning information security has gained a record number of votes". He stressed that "part of the information space of Ukraine is being occupied by the Russian Federation, and unfortunately some media behave as a special operations team on the territory of Ukraine, as the occupation corps of the aggressor, and not as free media".
The head of the parliament explained that "according to our regulations, once the petition receives the required number of votes, I would commission the line committee to prepare proposals that may either be a draft resolution or a draft law”. “After the proposals are prepared, I will immediately table them to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for consideration," said A.Parubiy.
"The issue of information security is no less important than the issue of military security, because in a hybrid war, the struggle for people’s hearts and minds is no less important than the war with tanks," stressed A.Parubiy.
