The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy signed the Resolution of the Parliament appealing to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize
From this day forth, it is believed that the Parliament of Ukraine has officially promoted Oleh Sentsov, who has for 137 days been on hunger strike, to obtain the Nobel Peace Prize. A.Parubiy is convinced that "Oleh and all Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin will be released from Russian torture chambers".
"Ukraine shall win!" stressed the high-ranking politician.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Tuesday, September 18, adopted a draft resolution of a statement to the Nobel Committee on nomination of Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize. 245 members of the Ukrainian parliament voted for this decision.
On May 14, 2018 Oleh Sentsov declared a hunger strike demanding the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners unlawfully detained by Russia. The European People's Party nominated the Ukrainian director for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. Furthermore, leading Western directors together with the French Minister of Culture appealed to the international community, the United Nations and the European Union to help release Oleh Sentsov. In addition, former President of Poland Lech Walesa nominated Oleh Sentsov for the Nobel Peace Prize, according to a statement issued by the Polish Film Academy on Aug.28.
