The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy took part in the events dedicated to the celebration of the 27th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine

Coupled with the President of Ukraine, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Petro Poroshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman, members of parliament, officials and honoured guests, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy took part in the solemn celebrations on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.

The paramount chiefs had part in laying flowers at the monuments to Taras Shevchenko and Mykhailo Hrushevskyi.  John R.Bolton, U.S. President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, was also among the guests of honour.

The official events began with a prayer service at the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Sofia Kyivska National Reserve.

After the ceremonial raising of the State Flag, a solemn prayer for the Ukrainian army was offered before the march-past. The parade was attended by 4.5 thousand Ukrainian servicemen, 250 units of military equipment, in particular modern weapons as well as the equipment that have already been adopted for service and those undergoing state trials.

For the first time in the past eight years, there some 30 fighters, attack aircrafts, transport aircrafts and helicopters of Ukraine’s army air force have also flown over the city.

Likewise, a new martial formal salutation formula by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense to the troops as well as the reply in return - "Glory to Ukraine!"-"Glory to the Heroes!" - were first introduced officially.

Eighteen foreign delegations from different countries of the world participated in the parade, in particular from Great Britain, the United States of America, Canada, Estonia, Poland, Romania, Moldova, Georgia, Latvia, Denmark, Poland, and Lithuania.

Honouring the memory of the Heaven’s Hundred Heroes took place on the Alley of Heavenly Hundred Heroes as well.
