”Ukraine hopes to have support of the USA in recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide against the Ukrainian people,” -- Andriy Parubiy
In his speech at an international conference in Washington focused on the urgent issues of global security related to the aggression of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy appealed to the US Congress representatives to support the decision to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as an act of genocide against Ukrainians.
He remarked that the issue of historical truth is one of the aspects of international security. "When I am speaking of the most important global menaces, I have in mind humanitarian security, and one of its elements is defending history," said Andriy Parubiy.
He recalled that the congressmen had prepared a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people. "The genocide bill is currently under consideration at the Congress. And we are very banking on your support in this regard," said the politician.
At the beginning of his working visit to the United States, the Chairman Andriy Parubiy honoured the blessed memory of the Holodomor victims. In Washington, there was held the ceremony of joint laying of symbolic sun dried wheat bundles in commemoration of the victims of the 1932-1933 Holodomor-genocide. Alongside the Speaker, the event was attended by high-ranking diplomats and officials from Poland, Moldova, and Lithuania.
