A.Parubiy proposes to prepare and sign an inter-parliamentary agreement between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates

The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andriy Parubiy held a meeting with Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, a member of the UAE Federal National Council, member of the UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry, member of the Committee on International Commercial Arbitration in Sharjah, UAE, and Salem Ahmed Salem Al Kaabi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Ukraine.

"We highly respect inter-parliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy," he said, and expressed his hope for a deep inter-parliamentary dialogue in the near future. "Parliamentary dialogue will allow us to learn more about our countries and to get a closer cooperation in various spheres," stressed the Chair of the Parliament, and invited the President of the UAE Federal National Council of the Arab Emirates to visit Ukraine.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada told the UAE representatives about the tradition of signing inter-parliamentary agreements, which improve and complement inter-parliamentary cooperation. A.Parubiy suggested framing and signing such a document between Ukraine and the Arab Emirates.

A.Parubiy also spoke about the situation in the east of the country and the tragedy experienced by the Ukrainian people. "The Russian Federation is pursuing an aggressive policy not only against Ukraine but also against its neighbours. I am sure Putin is a global threat to the whole world," said he, and called for the support of sanctions against Russia for preserving peace in the world.

He also wished that Ukraine be represented in the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, for its being a wide and esteemed ‘global window’ for peaceful intentions.

Being swift to react, the Chairman offered to delegate Iryna Sysoenko, MP, Head of the Ukraine-UAE friendship group, to the above body to smoothen the bilateral parliamentary connections. "We are interested in cooperation in the field of economy. Ukraine has got a powerful potential and developments in various spheres, in the energy sector, in particular.  Last year, more than a hundred companies represented Ukraine at a UAE exhibition," he said.

“We hold interest in cooperation of international organizations and a greater coordination of our union capable of becoming a true ‘launch pad’ for such initiatives".
