We all do feel grateful to the Ukrainian World Congress as well as the whole Ukrainian community abroad for their wide and active assistance in defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity – Andriy Parubiy
The Parliament’s Chair A.Parubiy warmly greeted participants of the 50th Ukrainian World Congress’s anniversary function at the joint sitting of several parliamentary committees together with the Annual general meeting’s delegates of the Ukrainian World Congress, which took place on this Wednesday.
“Nowadays, the Ukrainian World Congress has spanned Ukrainian organizations of 33 countries of the world; it’s in a close collaboration with the overseas Ukrainians, representing interests of twenty million Ukrainians all over the world,” said A.Parubiy. “We all do feel grateful to the Ukrainian World Congress as well as the whole Ukrainian community abroad for their wide and active assistance in defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
It was also said Ukraine that year congratulated a centenary of the Ukrainian revolution as the people had risen up to struggle for their new power.
Throwing numerous flashbacks into the history, he openly deduced two polar drivers that had led then to loss of the statehood, the inability to have a state by that time.
“The first one was the lack of unity in the then political establishment. And the next one of the burst-up was a densely poor furtherance by the international community,” said he.
It is crucial to learn and analyze the lessons of the past. “The in-fighting made Ukraine grow weak against the foe, against the same foe as it’s now – the Russian Empire, which under heaps of names has at all times been pursuing its predatory ambitions – and against Ukraine, in particular,” indicated A.Parubiy. According to him “Ukraine has paid a tremendous price for that distant bitter defeat – millions were forced to emigrate, another millions were killed in the Great Holodomor, yet another millions were slaughtered in the Red Terror by the Bolsheviks. We are still paying the price through having come to grips with the Bloody Empire in the east of Ukraine and the seized Crimea”.
The Chairman stressed that the historical lesson had been for centuries inscribed in the national memory annals considerably thanks to the Ukrainian diaspora – the people, which were forced to flee their fatherland, kept Ukraine’s history, tradition alive for future, saving archives -- all that with the view of forthcoming State of Ukraine.
Like never before, today we, Ukrainians, are seeking for a consolidated support of the world Ukrainian community.
“The Ukrainian World Congress constitutes an influential international power our next steps, actions depend upon; it is rendering a great deal of assistance to our efforts to liberate the Ukrainian lands occupied by the Russian aggressor; it has also helped a lot in gaining the visa free travel and the Association,” said the Parliament’s Chairman.
A.Parubiy underlined that the Ukrainian World Congress is keeping on the consistent policy of wide-spread support to Ukraine in its struggling against the Russian intervention. The overseas Ukrainians are also making a truly immense contribution to assistance for the wounded Ukrainian soldiers and families of the heroes perished.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voiced his hopes that “we shall soon come to a positive decision as to the lethal weapons arming of Ukraine”.
“EU and NATO are today’s goals and ambitions of Ukraine. These are the strategic objectives of ours capable of uniting us for keeps,” underscored A.Parubiy.
The Parliament’s Chairperson called on to a closer collaboration with the diaspora community in spreading the truth of the today’s Ukraine throughout the world so as to successfully oppose the Russian defamation and anti-Ukrainian propaganda.
The Chair also encouraged members of the Ukrainian World Congress to extend a greater influence over their heads of states in supporting Ukraine. He named the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to be “a torrent of corruption and energy-dependence supply in Europe”.
A great emphasis was also made upon scientific and art spheres of the confrontation. “The Kremlin is fiercely striving there to deny the mere right of Ukraine to exist, grabbing our ancient history, making the past and the present of Ukraine nazi-like. A whole swarm of Putin-sponsored talking heads are blatantly pushing ahead hard with belching out clouds of outrageous lie as to the ‘civil strife in Ukraine’,” said he, having then added that “the whole world community of Ukrainians seems to be an inexhaustible source of stamina for upholding cultural, political and international interests of our state”.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his profound gratitude to the Ukrainian World Congress and to its President Evhen Choliy for “the stupendous work and the invaluable assistance, with high hopes for a further collaboration for the sake of Ukraine”.
