“On June 30, 2017 there was a 110th anniversary of the Legend’s birth – that was the date when a legendary warrior, a true military leader of the fighting Ukraine at times of World War II, a general of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) Roman Shukhevych had been born 110 years ago,” said Andriy Parubiy, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine opening a morning plenary meeting of the Parliament on July 11th.

The Chairperson reminded that “the army led by Roman Shukhevych has for years been fighting against the two most powerful world’s empires – the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany with no assistance from without’.

A.Parubiy called on MPs to greet the son of the legendary Roman Shukhevych – Yurii Shukhevych, MP. “There is the general Roman Shukhevych’s son amid us – our colleague, a many years' standing, unconquerable political prisoner, pro-independence activist Yurii Shukhevych. Let’s greet him with cheers”.
