A joint press conference of Andriy Parubiy, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Paolo Alli, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

On a next NATO PA session in Kyiv

A next NATO Parliamentary Assembly session to be held in Kyiv is under consideration. The issue will be examined this autumn. “As we are in the know the point is to be discussed this fall at a NATO Parliamentary Assembly committee’s sitting. We do hence reckon for the favourable decision and have hopes to receive the session in the early 2019 here in Kyiv,’ said the Chairperson.

On the NATO’s Secretary General soon in Kyiv

Ukrainian prospects of entering NATO will be closely discussed next week during the coming visit of Jens Stoltenberg, the 13th Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. “In a, say, week Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization shall visit Ukraine to discuss Ukraine’s membership in NATO,' added the politician.

Paolo Alli about Ukraine’s support

Paolo Alli, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, in his turn, called on the West to uphold Ukraine as never before. I do appeal to abroad not to turn Ukraine down! We must be patient in the interrelations. It was easy to back Ukraine up after the Maidan into the atmosphere of the revolution and high hopes. But now Ukraine is gaining much less attention, whereas it needs our iron hand as never before,’ stressed Alli.

He also highlighted that despite the eastern Ukraine being at war, the large-scale human rights violations in the occupied lands, the economy’s weakness it would however be a mistake to underestimate its three-year up-changes and the scope of reforms in the country. “Today’s Ukraine knows well what it needs as well as its own place. The road is long. Ukraine is on the right path and moves pretty fast. The NATO Parliamentary Assembly will do its best to back Ukraine,’ underscored P.Alli.

He also expressed his strong belief that Ukraine would enter NATO soon.

The President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Paolo Alli called Ukraine to be the outpost of the Western democracy and our joint values.

“Support of Ukraine is kind of self-support,” said he.
