Since November 9, 1997, Ukraine has traditionally celebrated the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language.
This day is attributed to the Day of Commemoration of Saint Nestor the Chronicler — reputed author of the Primary Chronicle, (the earliest East Slavic chronicle), Life of the Venerable Theodosius of the Kiev Caves, Life of the Holy Passion Bearers, Boris and Gleb, and of the so-called Reading.
Much has already been told and written about the Ukrainian language. International experts and researchers consider it one of the oldest, richest and the most melodious languages in the world.
I am confident that our language is eternal, so is Ukraine. We have to protect and expand our language — a basis of our statehood.
