The Resolution of the Ukrainian Parliament on wages of members of the Ukrainian Parliament will be considered on November 1, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, said at a meeting of the National Reforms Council on Tuesday.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada informed he had had preliminary consultations with the heads of the parliamentary factions. "Next Tuesday we will amend the Resolution and prevent increase of wages. I believe that the MPs will support it," Parubiy said.

He noted that the issue of the expected MPs' wages rise has received particular condemnation by the society. He said he "consciously" does not sign that Resolution.

According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, all parliamentary members know that there was an idea to regulate payment of wages. The Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has elaborated the draft resolution that envisions payment of wages to members of the Ukrainian Parliament in compliance with the law. "Unfortunately, over the last 15 years that has happened under respective signature of the Chairmen of the Verkhovna Rada and MPs themselves did not touch the issue in order to regulate it in compliance with the law," Parubiy said.

He recalled that during the discussion of respective issues within a meeting of the Committee on Budget a group of MPs initiated not only the regulation of wages but also their considerable increase.

Andriy Parubiy noted that higher wages are first of all an anticorruption measure and added that it is confirmed and supported by Ukraine's European partners.

At that Andriy Parubiy expressed confidence that speaking of nowadays the decision to raise the wages for Ukrainian MPs is inexpedient and premature.
