In his interview for the Rada TV channel on Friday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, called the detention of Ukrainian journalist of the Ukrinform news agency to the French Republic, Roman Suschenko, "absolute barbarism."
He said that it was one of the first issues discussed during the conciliatory council meeting on Monday.
According to the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, the fact should be considered as a hostage-taking case.
He said the Verkhovna Rada can respond with political statement, thus the Ukrainian Parliament immediately approved a Statement to all international organizations requesting to analyze the journalist's detention to enhance the sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Besides, having recalled the events in Aleppo, Parubiy noted that the Russian Federation oversteps the mark in all parts of the world where it is involved in conflicts.
